Soon, Tuesday night "jam" sessions at Sunset Drive – a Prospera community grew to 10 people playing their favorite music, spanning country, rock and gospel.
Music is a big point of interest for Sunset Drive residents, says activity director Julie Schwab.
And speaking to residents' hobbies and interests are why Julie loves what she does.

"Working in this type of setting, it's so rewarding. You're making a difference in peoples' lives," she says.
Other popular activities include shopping trips, bingo, driving by the river to look at fall colors and watching and discussing films.
"Activities are important to enhance your life," Julie says. "They also help mood and behaviors."
She describes how one visit from children left an impact on a resident with dementia.
"A few years ago, we had kids come by for trick-or-treating and this gentleman was in the end stages of life. He had a bucket of candy and he was so happy, never stopping to give to the kids coming by. He lit up that day," she says.
Making that kind of a difference is why Julie enjoys working at Miller Pointe.
"You get to know someone and have that connection," she says. "You make someone feel good, and sometimes it's just with a smile. We need people who have that drive to give a little bit of sunshine when someone is not feeling good. That's perfect."
